OUR TEAM
KELLY VAN WINDEN
Growing up in Santa Barbara it was almost impossible for me to not play beach volleyball. I loved playing at the infamous East Beach with my family. When I retired from playing pro volleyball, my husband built a beach volleyball court in our back yard. Fortunately for me, both our daughters grew up playing on the beach court. I have spent 38 years coaching the indoor game and decided to give up the long indoor club coaching days, and moved outside to the beach game. I had been coaching on my own home beach court since 2003.
In 2007, with the help of Napa Park and Recreation, we revamped the sand volleyball courts at Kennedy Park and I taught beach volleyball classes for Napa Valley College. Last year, my husband, Jim and I were able to repair the old sand courts at Silverado Middle School.
The sport is near and dear to my heart as the majority of my family is still actively involved in both indoor and beach volleyball. My daughter Adlee is currently an assistant coach at UCSB, and my daughter Torrey is currently rehabbing a torn ACL, but actively getting ready to return to AVP volleyball. My niece Katie, owns and operates the East Beach Volleyball Academy in Santa Barbara while balancing her own professional beach career. The list goes on as my twin sister has four children herself that play the game, and she herself was a WORLD BEACH VOLLEYBALL champion.
